Questions

Where do deleted photos go?

To the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where iOS keeps them for 30 days. Gleam can’t delete anything permanently. To get one back, open Photos, go to Recently Deleted (under Utilities), and tap Recover. How to recover deleted photos

Why hasn’t my free space gone up after I freed up?

iOS only gives the space back once the photos leave Recently Deleted, which happens on its own after 30 days. To get it back now, open Recently Deleted in the Photos app and choose Delete All. After that they can’t be recovered. More ways to free up storage

Does Gleam delete anything without asking?

No. Your swipes are only marked until you tap Free up. iOS then asks you to confirm, once, for everything in that batch. Undo works on any swipe before that.

I use iCloud Photos. Will deleting in Gleam delete from iCloud too?

Yes. With iCloud Photos on, your iPhone and iCloud hold one library, so a photo deleted on your iPhone is deleted everywhere, after the same 30 days in Recently Deleted. Deleting from iPhone but not iCloud

Why is the Duplicates pile empty?

Gleam looks through your library on your iPhone the first time you open it. A large library takes a few minutes, and piles fill in while Gleam is open. If a pile stays empty, that kind of photo wasn’t found.

What does shrink do?

It saves a smaller copy with the same date, location, favourite and albums, then moves the original to Recently Deleted. Gleam only offers it when the copy is at least 40% smaller, and keeps the original if the result isn’t. Making videos smaller

Why did I run out of reviews?

The free version reviews 150 photos a week, and the count starts over each week. Skipped photos don’t count. Gleam+ removes the limit.

Does Gleam upload my photos?

No. Gleam sorts your library with Apple’s on-device frameworks and makes no network requests. It has no servers, no account and no analytics. The App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”.

How do I get Gleam+ back on a new iPhone?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Gleam’s settings and tap Restore purchases.

How do I cancel Gleam+?

Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Gleam. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date and you won’t be charged again.
